What foods cause hypertension? (Part I)

Hypertension: If you are prone to hypertension, you should consider feeding more and avoid foods that can increase your blood pressure. In this article, we will refer to some of these foods, and in the next article, we will continue to discuss this.

Hypertension: Canned foods

Canned foods contain lots of salt and preservatives. These substances increase blood pressure. Try to use fresh food instead of conserved food.

Hypertension: Cheese

Everyone knows that cheese is very tasty. But if you tend to eat cheese, you should choose a low salt type. For example, Cheddar cheese containing 621 mg sodium per gram, Gouda cheese contains 819 mg sodium per gram and American cheese is 1671 mg sodium per gram.

Hypertension: Candies

Candy and chocolate are the major causes of high blood pressure. This food has high glucose levels, which can lead to weight gain, kidney disease, and increased risk of diabetes, in addition to increased blood pressure.

Hypertension: Carbonated Drinks

These drinks are also full of sugars and increase blood pressure. In addition, these drinks are usually addictive because of the presence of caffeine and they tend to be more likely to be used by the individual. According to the American Heart Association, drinks should be less than 355 ml per week.

Hypertension: Energy drinks

These drinks also contain caffeine and their caffeine content is higher than other carbonated drinks. Caffeine increases blood pressure.

Hypertension: Sauces

Avoiding the use of all types of sauces is important to reduce the risk of high blood pressure. Most sauces contain a lot of sodium. For example, ketchup containing 2,643 mg of sodium per gram of sauce and mustard sauce is 1,100 mg of sodium in grams.

Hypertension: Fast foods

Fast food contains lot of cheeses that have a lot of salt. Fast foods also contain carbohydrates that increase blood pressure.

Hypertension: Meat

Although red meat contains a lot of protein and other nutrients. Red meat contains high amounts of saturated fat, which can block the blood vessels. If you want to eat meat, use fish or chicken instead. But if you cannot stop eating red meat, eat more meat once a week.

Hypertension: Sausages

Sausages and other processed meats contain large amounts of sodium, saturated and preserved fats, which have greatly increased blood pressure and should be avoided as much as possible.

Hypertension: Pickles

Pickles and salty cucumbers contain large amounts of salt that play a significant role in high blood pressure.

Hypertension: Processed peanut butter

Peanut butter is usually rich in sodium and saturated fat. Using high amounts of saturated fats can block the arteries and cause cardiovascular disease and increase blood pressure.

Hypertension: Coffee

As stated above, taking high amounts of caffeinated beverages increases blood pressure.

Hypertension: Fried foods

Consumption of fried foods is associated with increased blood pressure. This is due to an increase in the amount of saturated fats and sodium absorbed through eating such foods.
