Incorporating garlic into your meals, or taking garlic supplements in capsule form, may help reduce the duration and severity of a sore throat because it acts as a natural antiseptic and antibiotic, says Dr. Eleonore Blaurock-Busch, Ph.D. in “The Doctors Book of Home Remedies.” Chopping up garlic and stir-frying it with vegetables or adding it to soups may help heal a sore throat more quickly. If you do not like the taste of garlic, taking 15 grains of garlic oil capsules six times a day may be effective, says Blaurock-Busch.

Gelatin
If a sore throat is causing pain when swallowing, eat foods that are not irritating to the throat, such as gelatin. Gelatin is available in a variety of flavors at the grocery store and may provide nutrients to the body without irritating the throat. Gelatin is cool and slippery, so it will slide down the throat with minimal pain. If you are a diabetic or have food allergies, consult your doctor before eating flavored gelatin.
Chicken or Vegetable Broth
