What is Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid surgery: The first part of the body, which attracts attention to anyone, is the eyes.

The eyes reflect the person’s emotional and behavioral states, and even represent the person’s age.

Unfortunately, the eyes are showing signs of aging earlier than other organs of the body.

As we age, the eyelids find a condition that doesn’t allow the eyes to show themselves as they are.

In this article, we are going to introduce eyelid surgery that is called Blepharoplasty to help you have beautiful and more attractive eyes.

What is Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the eyelids.

Blepharoplasty tightens and lifts sagging skin around the eye area.

Also, surgery can be performed on the upper lids, lower lids or both.

How is Blepharoplasty performed?

An eyelift usually takes about two hours if both upper and lower eyelids are done together

First of all, The incision lines for eyelid surgery are designed

The surgeon will usually cut along the natural lines of your eyelids.

Through these cuts, your surgeon will separate the skin from the underlying tissue and finally remove the excess fat and skin.

Surgery on the lower eyelids makes a cut inside your lower eyelid to remove fat.

Your surgeon can then soften fine lines in the skin using a C02 or erbium laser.

Who Is a Good Candidate For Eyelid Surgery?

Good candidates for blepharoplasty include:

  • The best candidates for an eye lift are people who are 35 years or older
  • Healthy individuals with no medical conditions that can impair healing
  • Nonsmokers
  • Individuals with a positive outlook and realistic goals
  • Individuals without serious eye conditions

Side effects

Side effects
  • Bleeding and infection
  • Dry eye or irritation
  • Darkness under their eyes after lower eyelid surgery

Blepharoplasty does not cure the following

  • The black ring around the eyes
  • Wrinkles around the eyelids and between the two eyebrows
  • Drooping eyebrow

Will the results of blepharoplasty be permanent?

Upper eyelid surgery can last at least 5 to 7 years.
