What is cellulite?
Cellulite is uneven, lumpy skin on your hips, thighs, or buttocks.
This Problem occurs when the skin overlying certain areas of fat is pulled downward to the deeper tissues by connective tissue bands.
Based on the severity, it is classified into 4 groups:
- Grade 0: No cellulite.
- Grade 1: Smooth skin when standing, but orange-peel appearance when sitting.
- Grade 2: Skin has orange-peel appearance when standing and sitting.
- Grade 3: Skin has orange-peel appearance when standing with deep raised and depressed areas.
Summary: Cellulite Problem is a condition in which the skin becomes dimpled and bumpy. It is more seen in women especially around the tummy, thighs, and butt.
What causes cellulite?
The cause of cellulite is still not fully understood but is likely due to a combination of different factors.
1- Hormonal changes
Hormones are one of the major factors in the regulation of metabolism and the storage of fats under the skin.
One of the reasons why cellulite is not formed in men or too low is the Estrogen hormone changes in women:
Hormones like insulin and catecholamines, which are involved in fat breakdown and storage, could play key roles in its formation

- Stand vertically
- Cells meeting connective tissue at a right angle under the skin

In some cases, the shape of cellulite, due to the accumulation of fluid around the tissues, can be made worse.
Although you can’t control your age, you can make some changes to your lifestyle that can help reduce the amount of cellulite on your thighs.

In a study that was done on people with cellulite, it was found that losing weight helped reduce the severity of cellulite, especially in overweight people.
However, in this study, 32% of people with losing weight made their cellulite look worse.
